Reading Minutes

Last item for navigation

We have a No Homework policy at Fisher Elementary, although we do expect students to read at home every night.  4th grade reading goals change each trimester:

  • Trimester 1:100 minutes each week
  • Trimester 2:125 minutes each week
  • Trimester 3:150 minutes each week

Students are responsible to fill out the number of minutes and the name of the book they read.  They are also responsible for asking a grown up or older sibling to initial their planner.  Students who come to school with their planner ready to go, are rewarded with a PAW ticket that they can save to spend in our student store!

Research shows great benefits in student reading...

“Starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year.  They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and, on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers.”
